In industrial plants most of what needs inspecting is high, confined or hazardous: stack tops, tank roofs, pipe bridges, silos and turbine bodies. The classic answer is scaffolding, a crane or rope access — time, cost and a safety burden.
From the air these areas are captured without anyone working at height. When the same points are recorded periodically from the same angle, changes such as crack growth or corrosion can be tracked by comparison.
